Lotus Domino Server Installation
(Dependant upon the source/media for this software installation, steps 1-3 might be different)

1) Obtain software from an appropriate source, i.e. CD or file server.

2) Change directories to the folder containing "c55dpna.exe" and execute it.

3) In the Lotus Domino - InstallShield Wizard", "Location to Save files", accept the default and click "Next". (files will be extracted, wait a minth)

4) In the "Lotus Domino Installation" Welcome panel, click "Next".

5) Accept the License Agreement by clicking "Yes".

6) For the company information, in the "Name" and "Company" fields, enter something and click "Next" ("Partitioned Server Installation" not selected).

7) In the "Destination Folder" panel, accept the defaults and click "Next".

8) In the Setup panel, accept the default "Domino Enterprise Server" and click "Next"

9) In the Program Folders panel, accept the defaults and click "Next". (wait a minth).

10) In the "Domino Server installed successfully" panel, click "Finish".




Configuring Lotus Domino Server

1) From the Windows "Start", "Programs", "Lotus Applications", click on "Lotus Domino Server".

2) In the "Lotus Domino Server", "Lotus Domino is installed as a Windows service", select "Start Domino as a Windows Service", "Alaways start Domino as a service at system startup", and "Don't ask me again", then click "OK" (wait a minth).

3) In the "Server setup" panel, "Welcome to Domino Server Setup" panel, clic "Next" (you can alternatively change your font/size before clicking "Next").

4) In the "First or additional server" panel, select "Set up the first server or a stand-alone server, then click "Next".

5) In the "Provide a server name and title", for the "Server Name" and Server" fields enter the value of your choice (i.e. "Server Name" = "imabox", and "Server" = "I Am A Box"), then click "Next".

6) In the "Choose your organization name" panel, enter an appropriate value (i.e. "pvcwea"), and for the "Organization Certificate..." and "Confirm password" fields enter an appropriate password (i.e. "pv1cwea"), then click "Next".

7) In the "Choose the Domino domain name" panel, enter an appropriate value (i.e. "pvcdom"), then click "Next".

8) In the "Specify an Administrator name and password" panel, only fill in the "Last" field and enter "admin" in that field, and in the "Password" and "Confirm password" fields, enter an appropriate value (i.e. "adminwea"). In the section "The Administrator ID file will be stored inside the server's Domino Directory", select "Also save a local copy of..." and click the"Browse" button. Save the admin id file somewhere appropriate (i.e. "C:\Domino 6.5.1 stuff"), name it "admin.id", and click "Save". Now click "Next".

9) In the "What Internet services should this domain..." panel, select all options ("Web Browsers", "Internet Mail Clients",  and "Directory services"). In the "To customize all other Domino services" option, click "Customize". In the "Advanced Domino Services" panel, select "DIIOP Corba Services", and click "OK". Now click "Next".

10) In the "Domino network settings" panel, click the "Customize" button. In the "Advanced Network Settings" panel, in the "Type the fully qualified Internet hostname for this Domino server", enter the appropriate value (i.e. "imabox.raleigh.ibm.com") and click "OK". Now click "Next".

11) In the "Secure your Domino Server" panel, accept the default and click "Next".

12) In the "Please review and confirm your chosen server..." panel, review and if ok, click "Setup". (wait a minth).

13) In the "Setup summary" panel read the summary, then click "Finish".



Start Lotus Domino Server
(Steve, reboot your system before proceeding, dont know why, but you couldn't add a user until you rebooted, got "network timeout" (or some such notice))
(You might want to setup the Lotus Domino service to automatically start)

1) From Windows "Start", "Programs", "Lotus Applications", and click on "Lotus Domino Server". (wait a minth).




Install Administrative Client
(Dependant upon the source/media for this software installation, steps 1-3 might be different) Domino stuff obtained from:

1) Obtain software from an appropriate source, i.e. CD or file server.

2) Change directories to the folder containing "c55dnna.exe" and execute it.

3) In the Lotus Notes - InstallShield Wizard", "Location to Save files", include a folder name (i.e. "C:\Program Files\Lotus Notes 6\Admin Client") and click "Next". (files will be extracted, wait a minth) go to step 4.

(or)

1) On the Domino Server machine, obtain software from "zeitouni5" (i.e. "net use  *   \\zeitouni5\rushsoft" and use their password).

2) Change directories to "*:\Dominos\Domino 6.5.*\Designer and Admin", and execute "??????.exe".

3) Proceed to step 4.

4) In the "Lotus Notes 6.5.1 - Installation Wizard" GUI's "Welcome" panel click "Next".

5) In the "License Agreement" panel, click "I accept the terms.." and click "Next".

6) In the Customer Information panel, for the "User Name" field enter an appropriate value (i.e. "PVCWEA"), and in the "Organization", also enter an appropriate value (i.e. "IBM"), then click "Next".

7) In the "Installation Path Selection" panel accept the defaults and click "Next".

8) In the "Custom Setup" panel, assure "Notes Client" is selected, as well as select "Domino Adminstrator" (and select "This feature, and all subfeatures, will be installed on local hard drive), then click "Next".

9) In the "Ready to Install the Program" panel, accept the defaults and click "Install". (wait a minth).

10) In the "Install Wizard Completed" panel, click "Finish".




Starting Domino Client

1) From Windows "Start", "Programs", "Lotus Applications", and click on "Lotus Domino Administrator".

2) The "Domino Administrator" panel will be displayed. In the "Lotus Notes Client Configuration", "Welcome" panel, click "Next".

3) In the "User Information" panel, in the "Your name" field enter the appropriate value from you server installation (i.e "admin"), and for the "Domino Server" field, enter your server name (i.e "imabox.raleigh.ibm.com"), then click "Next". (if prompted for password enter the appropriate value, i.e. "adminwea").

4) In the "Lotus Notes Client Configuration", "How Do You Want to Connect to a Domino Server?" panel, select "Set up a connection to a local area network", then click "Next".

5) In the Instant Messaging Setup" panel, unselect "Setup instant messaging" (unless you want it), then click "Next".

6) In the configure additional services panel, don't select anything (unless you want this stuff), then click "Finish".

7) A note should appear stating "Notes setup is complete" (however, lotsa other stuff occurs).





Create User(s)

1) From Windows "Start", "Programs", "Lotus Applications", and click on "Lotus Domino Administrator". (if presented with the "Choose User ID to Switch To" dialog box is displayed, select the "admin.id" from previous steps, then click "Open"). When queried for the password, enter the appropriate value (i.e.
"adminwea").

2) The "PVCDOM Domain - Domino Administrator" panel, select the appropriate domain tab (i.e."PVCDOM Domain").

3) In the "People & Groups" tab, click on the "> People" item and select "Register".

4) You will then be prompted to "Choose a Certifier" with your cert.id that was automatically created in your Domino Server installation earlier (the file "cert.id" should be in "c:\Lotus\Domino\Data"). Select the "Supply certifier ID and password", and click "Certifier ID...". Browse to the "cert.id" file and select it. Back in the "Choose a Certifier" click "OK. When prompted for a password, enter the appropriate value from the Organization Certificate above (i.e. "pv1cwea").

You might be prompted informing you of no "recovery information", select "Do not show this warning for this certifier ID in the future" in this popup to eliminate this warning from occurring in the future.

5) In the "Register Person - New Entry" panel, select the "Advanced" option, and on the left side of the panel, click on "Basics", and fill in the "First Name" (i.e. "Bubba"), the "Last Name" (i.e. "rubba") (the "short name" will be filled in automatically, but change the case to lower case if it's not already). In the "Password" field, enter a password (i.e. "br1ubba"). Click the "Password Options" button, and in the "Password Options" popup, select "Set internet password", and "Synch internet password with Notes ID password", then click "OK. (Note that by selecting "Synch internet password with Notes ID password, if you use a web browser to view mail (i.e. "http://imabox.raleigh.ibm.com/mail/brubba.nsf"), or when you configure this user using the WEA IIOP portlets, you must use the full internet id (i.e. "brubba@imabox.raleigh.ibm.com").)

6) On the left side of the panel, click on "Mail". In the"Mail file template", select the type of template you wish (i.e. "Mail (R6)"), the "Mail system" should be "Lotus Notes", the "Mail file name" should be "mail\brubba", and the "Mail file owner access" should be "Editor".  The "Create file now" option should be selected (if you wish you can set database size quota in megabytes, etc., do so now)

7) On the left side of the panel, click on "Address", and in the "Internet Address" field enter the email address (i.e. "brubba@imabox.raleigh.ibm.com"). For the "Internet Domain" field, enter the appropriate value (i.e. "raleigh.ibm.com"). For the "Address name format" field, select "FI LastName", and for the "Separator" field select "None".

8) On the left side of the panel, click on "ID Info", select "Create a Notes ID for this person. In the section "Location for storing user ID", select "In Domino directory" and "In File" (use the default location "c:\Program Files \lotus\...\data\ids\people\brubba.id"), and at the bottom of the panel, click "Register". A "Domino Administrator" popup will appear to "Add the new person...", click "Yes". A "successful" popup should appear, click "OK". Click "Done".

9) Back in the "PVCDOM Domain" tab, the new user should be visible (otherwise, click on "View" and select "Refresh").

To add additional users, repeat steps 3-9.


As a new user

When you frist log on as a new user, you will be presented the the "Welcome" tab and some options within it. Click "No thanks, just give me the defaults".

To bounce between users using Notes client, you must first change ID's (select "File", "Security", and click on "Switch ID...", the scope to the folder and select your associated ID file, i.e. "brubba.id", and then enter the appropriate password), and the associated database (select "File", "Database", "Open...". In the "Open Database", in the "Server" selection, select  your server (i.e."imabox/pvcwea"), and in the "Database" section, scope down, click on "mail", and select the associated user (i.e. "Bubba Rubba").
