These instructions include the installation of Java JDK 1.4, so caution
should be used for you implementation if you have other JDK's installled.
BlackBerry JDE Installation
1) Obtain the software from "http://www.blackberry.net/developers/na/java/tools/index.shtml".
Under the "BlackBerry Java Development Environment", "BlackBerry JDE",
click on link "V3.7".
2) In the resulting page, at the bottom of the page under "Download"
tool, click on the "BlackBerry Jave Development Environment v3.7".
3) Fill out the form, agree to their crap, and download the software.
4) Once you have downloaded the file (which is an executeable), doubleclick
on it.
5) In the "BlackBerry Java Development Environmen 3.7 - InstallShield
Wizard" Welcome panel, click "Next".
6) In the "License Agreement" panel, accept it and click "Next".
7) In the "Customer Information" panel, enter something and click "Next".
8) In the "Setup Type" panel, select "Complete" and click "Next".
9) In the "Destination Folder" panel, accept the default and click
"Next".
10) In the "Ready to Install the Program" panel, click "Install".
11) In the "InstallShield Wizard Completed" panel, click "Finish".
12) To start the simulator, click "Start", "Programs", "Reasearch In
Motion", "BlackBerry Java Development Environmen 3.7" and select "Device
Simulator". A DOS window will be displayed, the simulated device, and
a Radio Simulation Control Panel. Clicking the "ESC" button on the device
GUI will be the same as tapping the button on the device.
Use the up/down arrow keys to move through the GUI and the left/right
arrow keys to get into sub panels.
Blackberry 6700 Simulator
1) Obtain the software from "http://www.blackberry.net/developers/na/java/tools/index.shtml".
Under the "BlackBerry 6700 Simulator", click on link "For JDE V3.2.1".
Fill out the form and download the software.
Blackberry 7200 Simulator
1) Obtain the software from "http://www.blackberry.net/developers/na/java/tools/index.shtml".
Under the "BlackBerry 7200 Simulator"click on link "For JDE V.3.7.0.54".
Fill out the form and download the software.
2) Unzip the software.
3) Execute the file "run.bat". After several seconds the simulator
will be running. A DOS window will be displayed, the simulated device,
and a Radio Simulation Control Panel. Clicking the "ESC" button on the device
GUI will be the same as tapping the button on the device. Use
the up/down arrow keys to move through the GUI and the left/right arrow keys
to get into sub panels.
BlackBerry Enterprise Server Installation
1) Download the BlackBerry enhancements for WEA from the IBM WEA web site
(or obtain from WEA L2 server) to the WEA machine.
Setup Domino Server for BES
1) Log in as NT Administrator
2) Download and install odbc driver using defaults for everything.
3) Start Lotus Domino administration tool, and log in as administrator
(admin/adminwea).
4) In the Administration tab, in the "People and Groups" tab.
5) Scope down to Domino Directories, pvcwea's address book, and select
"People".
6) Right click and select "Register Person".
7) In the "Choose the Certificate ID" dialog box, and in the "~\Lotus\Domino\Data"
directory select the "cert.id" file, then click "Open".
8) In the "Enter Password" popup, enter the password for the certifier
ID that you created when you installed Domino ("adminwea"). (a warning might
appear, click "OK").
9) In the "Register Person - New Entry" panel, for the First name" field
enter "mds", last name = "admin" and password ("adminwea")..
10) Click on the'Add Person" button (that creates an entry in the table
at the bottom). Select the "admin, mds" user and click the "Register" button.
(Click OK in register complete panel). Refresh will now show this person.
This must be done for each blackberry user.
11) Open up the user you just created "admin, mds" select the "UserID", right
mouse click, select "Detach" and export it's ID file.
12) For each user, in the "Register Person - New Entry" panel, for the
First name" field enter "pam", last name = "blackberry" and password ("adminwea")..
